Wool Dryer Balls vs Dryer Sheets: Save Money Easily

A few months ago, I was shopping at Wegmans and noticed something unusual- the store brand unscented dryer sheets were completely sold out.

Normally, I pay about $2.99 for the Wegmans dryer sheets. The only option left was name brand version for $10.49, which I wasn't willing to pay.

So instead of overpaying, I decided to look for an alternative.

Why I Decided to Try Wool Dryer Balls

While browsing the laundry aisle, I came across a pack of 3 wool dryer balls for $9.99. The package claimed they would:

  • Shorten drying time
  • Reduce static cling
  • Soften clothes
  • Eliminate the need for harsh chemicals, perfumes and excess waste
  • Last up to 1,000 loads
At that point, it felt like a low-risk experiment - especially compared to paying over $10 for dryer sheets.

I knew I wanted a Toyota Rav4 Hybrid for two main reasons:

  • Toyota's reputation for reliability.

  • Better gas mileage.
